Vicoustic´s insulation solutions target to reduce sound transmission between walls, ceiling and floor. This way we can have an effective insulation treatment, aimed to reduce airborne and flanking noise transmission.

Sound Insulation Solutions

Airborne sound sources produce noise by vibrating the surrounding air. In other words, a noise source in a room sends air pressure waves which cause vibration on one side of a wall, evoking vibration on the other side of the wall of the adjacent room. These noise paths can occur through speech, television, home entertainment systems, airplanes, trains, cars, mechanical equipment, etc. Airborne sound transmissions can travel through floors, ceilings and walls, and can also travel through air vents, under doors, through windows, and other openings. Vicoustic´s insulation materials have specific characteristics (density and elasticity) aimed to reduce as much as possible all airborne transmission paths, and guarantee a successful insulation treatment.

Flanking noise spreads out through the building´s structure reaching a room through an indirect path. It can occur due to the vibration paths created by the structural connections of the separating panel, or the vibration paths between all the other elements of the source room (floor, ceiling, or walls). Flanking noise can also occur due to airborne sound transmission through a side wall (or even a floor or ceiling) into another room, and then from that room into the receiving room. It can also occur through air paths created by heating vent, return air vent, air ducts, warm air heating systems, fireplaces, chimneys, or even by traveling up the wall studs, across ceiling beams. Vicoustic´s insulation solutions are studied to reduce as much as possible all these noise transmission paths through adjoining components.

Anti-Vibration Solutions

Vicoustic strongly recommends the use of anti-vibration products destined to reduce flanking and low frequency noise transmissions, which spread easily through the interior structure of the building. These solutions combine efficiency and an economic solution for the client.
